Taobh na Mara Céilí Band

Conor is a member of the Waterford based céilí band, Taobh na Mara. The band was formed in 2017 by a group of friends, who down through the years have played together at fleadhanna and festivals throughout the country. Although based in Dungarvan, County Waterford, the band’s members come from the Munster counties of Waterford, Cork, Clare and Kerry. Each member brings their own unique style to the band and are delighted when they get to come together to perform as Taobh na Mara. They were thrilled to win the senior céilí band competition in Mullingar in 2022 and take the Dal gCais down to The Déise for the first time in history. Since their win in Mullingar the band have performed many concerts throughout the country and released their debut self-titled album to much acclaim.

Released in 2023, this album is Taobh na Mara Céilí Band’s debut album which celebrates the rich tradition of céilí band music as well as that of the Irish song tradition with guest singers Michelle Rattigan and Ciarán Ó Gealbháin.

“With musicianship that elevates the spirit, Taobh na Mara is a wonderful representation of where our traditional music is at today, capturing the spirit of modern Ireland in the hands, hearts and voices of our young musicians”
